St. Ives Is Certified Cruelty Free by PETA
Have you heard? We have just been certified cruelty free by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)!
Our St. Ives policy prohibits any animal tests on our products, anywhere in the world. Over 30 years ago, Unilever (aka our parent company) started to use non-animal testing methods to assess the safety of its products and ingredients. Unilever’s ongoing work on alternatives to animal testing, and its commitment to promote their adoption globally, has also been recognized by PETA who have listed Unilever “as a company working for regulatory change”.
Plus, Unilever has announced that it supports the Humane Society International’s #BeCrueltyFree initiative to enact legislative reform in key beauty markets to prohibit animal testing of cosmetics.
To spread the word that we are PETA certified as cruelty free, we’re adding their cute bunny logo to some of our St. Ives packaging, starting this year in the United States.
Want to know more about PETA? PETA is the biggest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 6.5 million members and supporters. Since 1980, PETA has campaigned against animal abuse and exploitation, influencing organizations and lawmakers to stop using animals whenever and wherever possible.
Its Beauty Without Bunnies cruelty-free certification is a way to assure consumers that St. Ives does not, and will not, test on animals which consumers can rely on when making compassionate purchases. When you see PETA’s cruelty-free logo on a product, it’s a sign that you can trust that the brand that you’ve chosen does not test on animals.
