Featured Questions

Q. How can I even out my skin tone?

A. One of the best ways to keep skin tone even is to avoid the sun. It’s important to wear a broad-spectrum, high-SPF sunscreen everyday and to avoid sun exposure when possible. Gentle exfoliating is also a great way to even out blotchy, uneven skin. St. Ives Apricot Renew & Firm Scrub gently gets rid of dead skin cells to reveal smoother, more even skin. For the body, the Healthy Brilliance Brighten & Glow Body Polish is a wonderful product for evening out the body’s skin tone. If blotches persist, see your dermatologist who may prescribe a bleaching cream or suggest laser treatments.

Q. How can I make my pores appear smaller?

A. Pores are part of the physical structure of the skin but they may seem more enlarged when they’re blocked with oil and/or dead skin cells, so working to reduce that blockage may result in the appearance of smaller pores. I recommend daily cleansing with a product like the Blemish & Blackhead Control Face Wash, and also regular, gentle exfoliation to clear out the pores.

Q. Is it possible to control my oily skin?

A. Daily cleansing with products tailored to your skin type is essential for controlling oily skin. Look for products with oil absorbing ingredients and acne-fighting ingredients such as salicylic acid. The Blemish & Blackhead Control Face Wash is great for daily cleansing without stripping the skin. Exfoliating weekly with a product such as the Blemish & Blackhead Apricot Scrub also helps lift away dead skin cells and oil that accumulates in pores. If oily skin persists, see your dermatologist.

Q. How can I get rid of red bumps on my upper arms?

A. This is probably keratosis pilaris, which is a condition in which there’s a buildup in the upper layer of skin around the hair follicle. To help treat this condition, I recommend regular washing with a hydrating body wash such as the Mineral Therapy body wash, as well as gentle exfoliating to reduce the buildup of dead skin cells.
